Zhou Xunshu: A pro golfer on the China Tour Rotating Header Image

Zhou back in Chongqing after disappointing start to season

Zhou Xunshu reunited with his wife and infant son Sunday night after more than six weeks spent away from home, training in Shanghai and competing in the Dell Championship, the season opener for the 2009 Omega China Tour in Xiamen. Unfortunately, Zhou didn’t have good news to share with his family. After a promising start — a 1-under 71 in the opening round — Zhou followed with scores of 79, 79 and 76 and tumbled to 58th overall (leaderboard) for a payday of RMB 5,375 (US$787) before taxes.

Zhou has a month layoff until the next China Tour event, the Sofitel Zhongshan IGC Open in Nanjing April 23-26. This also means it’s back to the daily grind for Zhou at the Hao Yun Driving Range, where he works as a golf instructor. In his month training at the Silport David Leadbetter Golf Academy Zhou was able to focus solely on his golf game and he said it was the first time in his life he really felt like a pro golfer. But Zhou needs to teach in order to pay the bills.
